2. How to Form the Past Simple (Regular Verbs)

Present: They watch TV every evening.

Past: They watched TV yesterday evening.

B. Regular Verbs → Add -ed

Examples: work → worked, clean → cleaned, dance → danced, stay → stayed

3.  Pronunciation ( výslovnosť) of – ED ( 3 types )

🔸 /t/ – po neznelých spoluhláskach (p, k, f, s, sh, ch…)

·       worked /wɜːkt/

·       laughed /lɑːft/

·       talked /tɔːkt/

🔸 /d/ – po znelých spoluhláskach a samohláskach

·       cleaned /kliːnd/

·       stayed /steɪd/

·       played /pleɪd/

🔸 /ɪd/ – ak sloveso končí na t alebo d

·       wanted /ˈwɒn.tɪd/

·       needed /ˈniː.dɪd/

·       started /ˈstɑː.tɪd/

4. Spelling rules (Pravopisné zmeny)

1) y → ied

·       Ak sloveso končí na spoluhláska + y:

·       try → tried

·       study → studied

·       carry → carried

·       Ak končí na samohláska + y, iba pridáme -ed:

·       play → played

·       stay → stayed

2) Zdvojenie spoluhlásky (CVC rule) ( splohláska,samohláska,spoluhláska)

·       stop → stopped

·       plan → planned

 

 

3) Končí na -e → pridáme iba -d

·       live → lived

·       dance → danced

·       smile → smiled

6. Short Story

Yesterday, Lucy visited her friend Emma. They walked to a small café and talked about their week. Lucy wanted a hot chocolate, so she ordered one and waited at the table. Emma smiled and listened to her stories. After that, they stayed in the park and played a board game. They ended the day with a slow walk home. Lucy enjoyed the day a lot.
