Questions and Answers
Q: What does healthy mean to you?
A: For me, being healthy means feeling good in my body and mind. It means nothing hurts, I can do any activity I want, and my mind is not in a dark place.
Q: What do you do to stay healthy?
A: I try to have a healthy diet – I eat a lot of vegetables, fruit, and protein. I stretch every day and go to the gym. I also walk, as my dog needs to go out a few times a day.
Q: What do you think you could improve when it comes to your health?
A: Perhaps drinking more water, reducing screen time, and going to bed a little earlier. 11 p.m. isn’t that late, but I feel it would be better to go to bed around 10. I’d also like to start yoga, just to add some more movement.
Q: Are you going to change your health habits soon?
A: Good question. I’ll try to change them gradually – start by drinking more water, then cut down on screen time, go to bed earlier, and finally take up yoga.
Q: Do you find it hard to stay healthy?
A: No, not really. I’m used to having some dietary restrictions because of my allergies. That means I don’t really have a problem avoiding sweets or fatty foods. And I enjoy moving and exercising – so that’s no problem either.
Q: Do you think it is important to look after your health?
A: Absolutely. You need to have a healthy body to move freely and without pain when you’re older. If you look after your health now, you won’t have as many health issues as someone who does nothing about theirs.
Q: Do you find it difficult to adhere to all the health advice out there?
A: If you tried to follow all the advice out there, then yes. But I think that would be impossible. There are far too many restrictions, recommendations, and supplements. You need to do what feels right for you and what suits your body.
Q: What do you think about acupuncture, ice baths, or saunas? Do you think they’re beneficial for our health?
A: They can definitely be helpful. If you’ve got a problem that can be solved with alternative medicine or a different approach instead of just taking mediacation, then you should give it a go. I tried acupuncture for an inflamed muscle and it really helped. The pain went away and I could move freely again.
Q: Is healthy food easily available in the area where you live?
A: Yes, we’ve got a small market that’s open almost every day. In the villages around Šaľa, you can also buy home-grown fruit and vegetables. In Tešedíkovo, there’s a farm where they sell cow’s milk, goat’s milk, and cheese. In Vlčany, there’s a pond and a restaurant where they serve fresh fish.
Q: Did you have any food restrictions growing up?
A: We didn’t drink fizzy drinks or eat many sweets or much sugary food.
